Shit Hunter Says

Contemplated shaving my beard...asked Hunter for his thoughts on the matter.
"Don't do it Dad, " he opines, "You'll look douchey!"
Well...will revisit in the Spring.

Santa will be with us another year....at least

Reed has been asking for a 2nd dog for several Christmases now. This year was no exception.

This year he also began hinting that since I don't want another dog and he never gets a dog that maybe Santa is not real and "Mom and Dad" are really Santa.

A bit of a bummer thinking that Santa could be forgotten after this year. Maybe putting Santa behind you is one of the stages of growing up in middle class America.

A few times in the last few weeks before Christmas, Reed would muse aloud about how he couldn't get another dog for Christmas and I didn't want another dog. Interesting coincidence...

Santa doesn't bring animals, I'd say. Only inanimate objects. Reed  would then cite references --friends who received pets from Santa.

On Christmas eve as we were headed to bed Reed's eyes suddenly wend wide with panic,

" Dad, we forgot to leave out cookies and milk for Santa!"

"No problem, I got it."

Reed, as I headed down the stairs, "Don't forget carrots for the reindeer too."

"OK!"

I smiled and put out the plate.

Shit Reed Says

Reed is showing me some tricks that he is teaching our dog Stinkus. Shows me two then says, "This next trick is still in alpha, Dad, and she may not do it." --Daddy

Merry Christmas Card

I have been wanting to get a photo of the boys to use for our Christmas card but haven't found the time. It was snowing today and the flakes were big and beautiful. Today was the day!

I had to take the boys to Grandpa Copeland's so before we went I grabbed a wreath and the poinsettias, and a Nikon D800 and 105mm lens.

We were outside for ~5 minutes, I took 12 photos and got this one --which I love and will be slipping into our Christmas cards.

Shit Hunter Says

Hunter is getting out of a the shower. I hand him a towel to dry himself.

Hunter: Dad, can you dry me?
Me: Sure, are you tired.
Hunter: I'm not tired; I'm lazy.
