We were at a company picnic this Friday past. The 4 of us there...the boys intimidated by so many adults in one place. Garrulous adults.
I had been introducing a reluctant Reed to my co-workers. Reed would beg me to pick him up and them bury his head against my neck.
I saw two friends I hadn't yet introduced Reed to.
"C'mon Reed, I want you to meet more of my friends," I said.
"No thanks Dad. I've had enough of your school friends."
